Left-sided defender Steph Catley has committed her future to Arsenal Women, signing a new contract.
Catley’s deal was set to expire at the end of the season but the centre-back has been a crucial feature in Renee Slegers’ side.
The Australian international has progressed from full-back to the left side of central defence under Slegers, starting all five Champions League knock-out matches in 2024/25 including helping to keep a clean sheet in the final.
Catley has 165 Arsenal appearances to date after signing from Melbourne City in 2020, and has worn the captain’s armband on occasion.
The defender has 146 Australia caps, and is also part of the Matildas’ captaincy group.
With left-footed centre-backs hard to come by, Catley remains a significant cog in Arsenal’s system moving forward.
Katie McCabe is likely to depart in the summer and has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.
The Gooner Fanzine understands Beth Mead will also leave Arsenal, and is set to join a Women’s Super League rival.
