Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 Arsenal:

Brighton stunned Arsenal to mark the club’s 125th anniversary in style on Saturday afternoon.

Two first half long-range strikes from Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas put the home side firmly in command, prior to Chema Andres making it three after the break.

Quite simply Fabian Hurzeler’s rampant Seagulls side blew away the reigning champions of England with a superb performance full of verve and vigour, character and fight, making Mikel Arteta’s side look distinctly second best on a memorable afternoon for the south coast side.

In front of a stadium record 31,944 the Seagulls could have scored more, when Malick Yalcouye struck the post late on, after Matt O’Riley went close.

As the clock ticked down, Declan Rice was fortunate to remain on the pitch after bringing down Yalcouye but the England midfielder only received a yellow card from referee Darren England.
