Manchester City are set to make a fresh attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez before the summer transfer window closes, with a formal bid expected in the coming days. Chelsea’s valuation is understood to be around £120 million.
City have maintained their interest in the Argentina international and are now ready to step up their pursuit. Fernandez is understood to have opened the door to a move to the Etihad, giving Enzo Maresca’s side encouragement as they prepare their proposal. The former Chelsea boss is extremly keen on a reunion with Enzo.
Chelsea, however, remain in a strong negotiating position. The Blues are willing to consider selling their midfielder, but only if the financial package is right and they can secure a suitable replacement before the window closes.
Fernandez has been an important player for Chelsea since arriving from Benfica in January 2023 for a British record fee of around £107 million. He has made more than 115 appearances for the club and has established himself as a quality Premier League midfielder who is one of the first names on Chelsea’s team sheet.
With the transfer window entering the final week, Manchester City’s formal proposal will now be crucial. Chelsea’s demands remain significant and it is crucial that the London side find an adquate replacement otherwise they will not sanction a deal for the 25-year-old.
