Arsenal has completed the signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, with the England international becoming the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The final transfer fee is understood to be £51 million plus £4 million in add ons, taking the potential value of the deal to £55 million.
Konsa completed his Arsenal medical yesterday before putting pen to paper on a four-year contract, with the club holding an option to extend his stay for a further season.
The 28-year-old leaves Villa after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most dependable defenders. His versatility is a major attraction for Arsenal, with Konsa capable of operating at centre back and right back.
His arrival provides Arteta with further quality and depth in defence ahead of another demanding campaign across the Premier League and Champions League.
Konsa’s move also represents a significant piece of business for Arsenal, who have been determined to strengthen their defensive options this summer especially with the long-term injury to William Saliba and continual injury problems with Ben White and Jurrien Timber.
After successfully negotiating a deal with Villa, the Gunners have now secured another experienced England international as they look to build on their Premier League title success and compete for more trophies.
